Based in the Comox Valley, Petras Land Surveying is ideally located to extend our services to numerous locations across northern Vancouver Island.
We offer on-site client meetings to review project and specific survey needs.
What sets us apart
Combining precise conventional and GNSS observations from our Leica equipment, we strive to complete your project in a timely, cost-effective manner. With the option to integrate 3D scans and controlled aerial images into the dataset, we can even make precise measurements from the images back in the office, thereby saving a return site visit if the scope of the projects evolves.
Petras Land Surveying specializes in surveys with logistical challenges, and provides creative solutions. Versatility being one of our strong suits, we are just as confident measuring multi-building stratas in the bustling downtown as we are retracing old District Lot boundaries in remote north coast locations.
We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service; helping our clients to navigate their surveying needs while finding the most efficient way to complete each unique project. When surveys are required by statue or local bylaw, we will work diligently to make sure our clients understand the process and keep them updated throughout the project.
Every project we undertake will be personally supervised by a BC Land Surveyor – to be “present at and personally superintend” is our sincere oath.
Owner Bio:
Justin Petras, BCLS
Justin Petras has over 18 years experience in the Land Surveying and Geomatics industry, and received his commission as a BC Land Surveyor in 2018.
Justin graduated from both the Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma and Bachelor of Technology in Geomatics degree programs at BCIT with honours distinction.
Starting his surveying career in Terrace, BC, Justin gained valuable experience working on a variety of engineering and legal surveys across northern BC. While completing the degree program at BCIT, he had the opportunity to gain extensive construction, high precision layout and deformation monitoring survey experience, working in the lower mainland on the Canada Line Rapid Transit project.
Justin has spent the past 15 years surveying across the rugged terrain of Northern Vancouver Island. He has managed and led survey crews on a wide range of projects including subdivisions and legal surveys, large scale construction projects, offshore pile layouts, tunnel layouts, topographic surveys and site plans. In the office he has processed data, drafted plans and helped clients navigate the challenges of applications. He brings his experience and expertise to your project.
Justin and his wife Chantelle founded Petras Land Surveying in 2024, with the vision of offering personalized services, tailored to each clients’ specific needs.
In their spare time, they can be found adventuring and exploring the great outdoors on Vancouver Island, biking, travelling and spending time with family and good friends.
